Catch up and waiting

Well, it's been a little while since I posted... And I really have no excuse. We are still waiting for Peanut to make his appearance. He seems quite happy and content to stay where he is. We are officially at 39 weeks. According to the 'What to expect when you're expecting' app, he should be between 19 and 22 inches long and weigh between 7 and 8 pounds. We shall see :)
So I thought I would do some catch up work here to let you see what we've been up to for the last month.

Back towards the end of July Bryce was in a friend's wedding.

Ain't he cute?
It was a pretty outdoor wedding and the breeze was nice and the rain held off
I've gotten to use my clothesline a lot!
Yes you guessed it, he is building our little guy's crib. It is made of cherry and with lots of love and care. :)
Proud daddy to be :)
Just a few finishing touches and we can bring it in the house and get ready to put a baby in it.
My Mama's birthday was a fun event. We threw a surprise party for her.
Bryce, Sam, Sarah, Brooke, and I went to the state fair to watch the tractor and truck pulls. That was a lot of fun!
I've pretty much lived in flip flops all summer and hadn't had a professional pedicure since Michelle's wedding last year, so I finally broke down and got one. It was so worth it :)
Here is where we are now. 39 weeks. Crazy!!!
Yesterday my good friend Kim and her sweet girl Addison came over to hang out and we put up some sweet corn. It was great to have some company and talk and laugh and enjoy Addison's smiles.
Today after sleeping in super late and it being dark and cloudy, I decided it was a crockpot supper day. Rolled rump roast, potatoes and carrots that'll be ready to munch on when Bryce gets home from milking. Yummy.

So, that's pretty much been it here at Bakers Acres. We were blessed with another shower that the ladies at church hosted. I keep finding things to rearrange and organize in the nursery. Our bags are packed for the hospital. We are prepared for the heat wave coming in the next day or so. Air conditioner is a great blessing! ( maybe the change in the weather will get Peanut to come? Anybody have experience with this ?)
Have a great day and I'll keep you all posted! Next Wednesday is the official due date. We will see if he decides to come then or not...

Baby shower blessings

Saturday Momand the girls hosted a shower for Peanut and I.
Sarah decorated the cute cake.
Mom, Gramma Jacque, and Sarah
Gramma, Gracie, me, Olivia, Sarah, and Rachel
It was great to have friends and family come and celebrate with us. We played some games such as 'the price is right', scattergories, and how much do you know about Emily and Peanut, and we also had prediction sheets for everyone to fill out. The prediction sheets were fun to read through later. They could predict birthday, weight and length, eye and hair color, and also give advice for us new parents. It was such a blessing to read the great advice from the seasoned mommies.
My lovely mommy MC-ing the event.
The adorable 'diaper tractor' my self proclaimed favorite cousin Brooke made. :)
Our packed living room.
Bath time essentials
All the adorable clothes!!!
Blankies and sheets. My mommy made the flannel striped one and the wonderful Miss Margaret made the crochet one
The little wagon mommy Carol gave us.
Feeding time
Fun reading material
Something to tote the boy around in
Pacifiers and things to have on hand in case the little guy isn't feeling good.
Toys!!
And last but not least diapers and wipes!!

We are so incredibly blessed and humbled by the love and generosity that is continually being shown to us. I can't wait for our little man to get here so we can share him with all of you.
We love you!

Barn transformation part one

Hmm... Looks like there's some activity going on out by the barn...
What are they doing with that water?
They peeled the paint off!
Now it's gray?
Wow!! Look at that!!!
Looking good!
To be continued...

Anniversary trip

At the beginning of June we took a trip for our anniversary and kinda made it the baby moon as well. We decided to go back to pigeon forge and gatlinburg which is where we had gone for our honeymoon. It was fun to go back and do some of the things we had done then and also do some new things. The mountains were so pretty!
You can faintly see the mountains in this picture. There was construction in this spot two years ago too!
First up we had to eat at bojangles. This may well be the tradition now whenever one ventures far enough into the southeast and there are bojangles present you HAVE to go. Chicken , bobisquits, dirty rice and sweet tea ( unless you are unsouthern in regard to sweet tea like me)
We were gonna try to rent the same cabin we stayed in on our honeymoon, but it was bought as a private residence. But the one we chose was really cute. It was a loft cabin. The bedroom and a bathroom and jacuzzi was upstairs and then downstairs was a creepy bathroom, the living room, and the dining room and kitchen. There was also a deck with a hot tub. The really cool thing was it had a pool table. We had a tournament going on throughout our whole trip. Bryce won. 16-15.

Hi there!!
This is a scorpion. He is about 2 inches long. Fortunately he is dead. They fumigate for these things down here. My friend Lauren lives in South Carolina and she had talked about having them where she was. I was skeptical, but now I know!  We saw a total if 2 dead and one dying from the effects of fumigation. We put him out of his misery.
There was an outlet mall with a Carter's and an osh kosh bgosh so we got a few things.
This is the narrow little driveway/road going down from our cabin.
We spent some time driving around in Smokey Mountain National Park and drove through some tunnels, saw a waterfall, found some old working gristmills, and there was also an old farmstead you could walk around.
This is the chicken house at the farm we went to.
Ours is a little higher class I guess....
We took one night and got all gussied up and went out to the Little Tokyo hibachi grill that we had gone to two years ago. It was just as yummy as we remembered ! Then we got ice cream.
Down in pigeon forge there are lots of shows. We hadn't ever been to one down there before so we picked the Lumberjack Feud. It was amazing! It's focus was on timbersports athletes. They got out the huge two man buck saws, did the log roll, climbed these tall 90 foot poles with only a rope and those little spikes on their boots, chopped on a log that was between their feet, and all kinds of other daring and probably dangerous stunts. While you watched the show you ate dinner. It was a lot of fun.
This is just a sampling of the pictures of all we did. We went mini golfing, ate yummy breakfasts and dinners, saw a bear, drove through cades cove and saw a bunch of old houses and churches, went to the Christmas store and worlds largest knife store, did some antique shopping, slept in, and had an all around wonderful time :)
