Gardening and such

Saturday was a day of gardening and yard work.
Bryce had just finished chasing the chickens out of the garden. They weren't understanding they couldn't be over there and eat what we were planting.

Here they are by the coop.

I did some  cleanup in flagpole flower bed. It was being overcome by clover.

My farmer husband :)

All done! We have potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, radishes, carrots, peas, sweet corn, cucumbers, punkins, and Indian corn.

This little guy was hanging out on the side of the house. We've been hearing them a lot in the evening.
Sunday after church we went to Springfield to have a little date and finish up the baby registry.

I think it's pretty self explanatory why we are here. They had really good pie:)

Bryce showing his barcode scanning skills. But honey I don't have a scan code and you already have me :):)
We had to take a picture of this and send it to moms and aunts:)

The field around our house was sprayed Tuesday and was worked up and planted
Wednesday.
Wednesday after work I went over to mom and dads to hang out. We had pizza and planned the upcoming girls trip. Caleb was pooped after playing outside all day so he passed out on the couch.

The cows had gotten into an area they weren't supposed to be in so we went out and helped dad corral them back in see mom's blog (dkwhitakerfamily.blogspot.com) to get details and more pix of that.
It was quite a beautiful evening.
Gorgeous sunset:)
Today just doing cleaning and organizing around home. Got a head start on tonight's supper too.
Have a great weekend:)

Nursery progress

Thought I would share how the nursery is coming along. We brought the changing table dresser up this evening and found that one of the boxes of diapers we got fits perfectly in on the shelf:) I will hopefully put some of the clothes I got away in it soon. I also got the glider while garage saling. Stroller and car seat were purchased with coupons and gift cards. It's been a productive shopping weekend :)

Weekend

Friday was the Tremont garage sales, so mama and I got up early and started to look for bargains. Boy, did we find a lot. I found my dresser/ changing table and a glider and all kinds of great clothes! Our nursery is about complete. We talked to quite a few people we hadn't seen in awhile and it was a gorgeous spring day. I also introduced mom to Perdues, the little restaurant in town.
Saturday, mom was volunteering at the homeschool convention and also wanted to spend some time browsing, so I watched the 6 younger kids. I think they had fun. Mom had gotten a bunch of new dollhouse people and furniture at a garage sale and didn't give it to the kids until they came over.

Caleb was pretty happy playing with the tractors.
We even got to oh outside for a little whole. It was a really pretty day! Livie is ready to play "red light, green light, Daniel Boone" :)
Have a great Sunday !

April 14 and Snow?

I There's something pretty about snow lazily falling from the sky. It's so pretty. So peaceful. So pure. So reminiscent of Christmas and times with family.

Unless it's mid April that is. Then the thought process is totally different. Are all the windows closed? Did I turn the heat completely off or just adjust the temperature? Is my coat still where I left it?
Oh the joys of early spring. Have a great day!

Catching up

Before the weather started getting warm we had some of the trees close to the house trimmed. We will have more done as the weather gets warmer to avoid too much sap running. King Tree Service arrived early in the morning to get the trimming and bracing of the big tree in the front yard done before the ground started to thaw. It was quite an interesting process. They had their big lift bucket truck raise them up into the tree and then they would climb out and repel with ropes around the tree trimming the different branches. It reminded me of monkies. :)

It didn't take too long to finish the job and they left us a nice pile to finish cutting up to use for our wood burner next winter. Bryce cut up the chunks with the chainsaw and I helped pile them up in the wheelbarrow. Then I pulled brush together into piles.

He didn't realize I was taking pictures  of him. Hehe!

One of our very nice neighbors came and took the brush one day while we were at work. It was really a mystery for a few days, but then he stopped by and revealed he was the one that removed them for us.

We have all been doing well. Planting season is just around the corner so Bryce will be getting busier and busier taking calls from dealers and helping them with planter issues in the field. He has also almost finished the closets upstairs. The old plaster had fallen out of two of the closets last year so he has been tearing out old plaster and putting up cedar closet liner. It looks and smells great!

I am enjoying working only 3 days a week and having my 4 day weekends to get things done around the house. My birthday was a couple weeks ago and we had a nice party at mom and dads. Bryce also took me out for a fun overnight date. He is so sweet !

Baby Baker is growing and moving around some. We are nearing 20 weeks and our sonogram will be this week. We are so excited to get to see our little Peanut and hopefully find out if it is a he or she. We will keep you posted :)
