OBX 2013 Continued

Here is another view from the deck. So beautiful and relaxing.

There were tons of these little guys on the beach. When it was dark people would go out with their kids, flashlights , and buckets to catch crabs. We heard lots of squeals of surprise and delight. I can say when we walked along the beach in the dark without a flashlight it made us a little nervous!

We visited the Wright Brothers museum in Kitty Hawk . It was a really neat site. We climbed up to the top of the dune to see the memorial and to enjoy the view of the coastline

The Cape Hatteras lighthouse is the tallest of the six lighthouses on the OBX and probably the most pretty. We had the privilege to see three of the lighthouses. Hatteras is the only one we went up in. All of the lighthouses have spiral staircases and have thousands if bricks. The stairs were a little net wracking but it was totally worth it to see this view.
Here is our house ain't it cute?

OBX 2013

So, we have been quite the world travelers. We had planned back in the cold frigid winter months on January that we would go to the beach in June. The Outer Banks in North Carolina specifically. I was a little nervous at first, an excited nervous : I'd never been to the beach in my life, and water, even still, keeps me wondering. You never know what kind if creatures could be swimming in those dark depths, waiting to nibble on your toes! But I was also excited because it looked beautiful and relaxing and also very fun. So on the night of the 20th we drove up to Chicago. The hotel we stayed at was right down the street from Midway and our room faced the airport. I didn't know if Bryce would get any sleep or not! He absolutely loves watching planes:)

Here we are dark and early at 4 on the morning to catch our 530 flight. Unfortunately, due to a way delayed checkin and security check( let's just say there weren't enough workers out of bed
To accommodate the mass if people that needed to get on a plane. ) we sprinted to the gate, and got there at 5:22,but they wouldn't let us on. So we waited for an hour for our next flight to Atlanta

Here we are in the town of Bath. This is the oldest incorporated town in the US. est. in 1705.
Wheat harvest was well underway and we say lots of burnt fields. This is the only one we actually saw burn though. Look at those flames!
This little lighthouse is in the town of Edenton, another old old town with lots of old houses
This was the neatest little visitors centor!
Here we are going over one of the sounds, I think it was the Abermarle. This particular bridge had a drawbridge for boats to get through.
Ahh.... and here we at at the beach in Nagshead. This was the view right off our deck!!!

Well it's getting late ! I will put up more pictures soon!

Anniversary part 2

On the final day of our weekend away, we went to the arch and old courthouse. Yep we went aaaaalllllllllllll the waaaaaayyyyy to the top. It's a long way up there in a pea pod.

The view below was quite gorgeous
This is inside the old courthouse. There were 3 stories  and you could go to the very top.

On the way home after our yummy pizza lunch we were treated with this rainbow. God's creation is awesome!
Here is our 1 year anniversary gift from Caryn,Lyle, Jared, and Ashtyn!  We got all paper items! It was very sweet!

I saw this not too long after we got home !!! Isn't it incredible?!
